Crossfire series
A quick summary on the series:
Gideon Cross a.k.a Ace, and Eva Trammel a.k.a Angel |
I discovered the Crossfire by Sylvia Day after having withdraws from Mr. Grey, needless to say, I quite possibly like this series as much as Fifty. Gideon Cross is as much swoon worthy, romantic, and sweet-heart as Christian Grey.
There are some similarities between both novels, but it’s not a rip off from James highly successful trilogy. Both characters in the Crossfire are wounded, and abused survivors who must learn to cope with their demons in order to make their complicated relationship work. This series made me laugh, cry, scream, hate the heroine, but it truly captivated me and I became heavily invested in the characters. I waited more than a year for the fourth installment.
Young Gideon |
While many fans of the series refused to continue reading after the third installment, because it was originally a trilogy, I felt it was necessary that the novels be extended to be a 5 part series. The issues both characters must overcome are monumental, as are the ramifications of being with someone who resurfaces old demons. While Eva has tried to recuperate from the trauma of her childhood, Gideon has avoided it altogether—until Eva comes crashing into his life. Eva and Gideon love each other profoundly but the series explores the possibility that: “love does not conquer all," and before they can truly be a couple they must both learn how to trust each other, and open up to each other more. Gideon is a tormented man that would do anything for Eva, combat her demons even if those demons become his own.
